Puggie arrived at the clinic with the most severe crop burn we have ever seen. The inexperienced owners had overheated his baby porridge and the steaming hot food he was given completely burned away his crop and parts of his stomach. Dr Elliott adopted Puggie as the owners could not afford his treatment. Dr Elliott performed several surgeries on him and he needed to be fed with a stomach tube for 3 months. Puggie was later stung by a bee which is almost always fatal to parrots but survived this too. His immune system was weakened by the bee sting and he then developed a fungal infection in his lungs. We suspect that Puggie has 9 lives like a cat because he has already used at least three of them!
